FAQs
What is the best way to get to Coin de Paix?
Getting to Coin de Paix is a choose your own adventure. Here is what we have tried and like best.
FLYING: Our favorite way to get to the chateau is by flying into Rennes, and either renting a car and driving the 45 minutes or taking an Uber or Taxi or taking the 30 minute train to Redon. (You will need to take a taxi to the train station which is about 15 minutes away)
You can also fly into Nantes NTE which has more flights and is a bigger airport than Rennes. It’s an hour from us, and easy to rent a car. You can also train from Nantes to Redon.
TRAIN: If you are coming in on a long flight from the US, Canada, Australia etc, we recommend spending a couple of nights in Paris to acclimate to the time change and explore the city of love! From downtown Paris, you can take a 2 hour train directly from the Montparnasse Gare (train station) to Redon.
Our daughter’s favorite way is to fly into Paris, and take the 3 hour train from Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris (CDG) into Redon. You can go directly from the airport to Rennes, and change trains into Redon. From there it’s a 12 minute taxi to the chateau.
You can rent a car in Rennes and drive to the chateau.
DRIVE: The other option when flying into CDG Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport or ORL Paris Orly Airport, is to rent a car in Paris and drive 4 hours to the Chateau. We have found there can be traffic leaving Paris.
An option we are still waiting for is teleportation. All options work great and we reccomend picking whichever works the best for your itinerary.
If you are driving in, you’ll want to look for Coin de Paix, or Chateau de Launay in Saint Vincent Sur Oust.
A Cautionary Tale: There are many Chateau de Launay’s in France. Be sure your directions are for the Chateau de Launay in Saint Vincent Sur Oust, France postal code 56350. Otherwise you could arrive at a different beautiful chateau an hour or more in the wrong direction. Here is the Apple Link to the Chateau.
What kind of activities are near the Chateau?
The Chateau is a place to relax and enjoy nature, connection and rest. If you love adventure, there is the River Oust that provides long flat bike trails for miles, canoe rentals, a canopy tree park. There are mountain bike trails near by and miles of French country roads to road bike on.
Nearby towns for shopping and dining include Redon 12 minutes by car, with it’s cute cobblestone street and shops. La Gacilly, home to Yves Rocher’s botanical garden, and old historic down town. Shops, galleries, a darling tea shop await your discovery. Rochefort en Terre is a famous old village hosting beautiful lights around Christmas in December and wonderful shops, an old chateau, a museum and restaurants.
The coast is 45 minutes away with access to beaches in the Golfe de Morbhian. There are many pre-historic sites, one of the most famous being Carnac. Go for the history, stay for the beaches! The forest of Brocéliande where Merlin is said to have met his Lady of the Lake is about 45 min drive and makes a nice day trip if you crave some whimsy with your nature.
Our favorite thing to do is walk the property here, sit in a swing with a glass of Rosé, or curl up in the Salon by the grand fireplace and read a book with a cup of tea.

Can we cook there?
Guests have access to a small service kitchen that has a sink, kettle, microwave and a small fridge. If you plan to arrive late and hungry, we can offer you some cold plates for dinner. It is best to call ahead and let us know that you’d like that service. Breakfast is provided each day.
Can I bring my animal?
While we love pets, and are home to a 16 year old Chug named Poppy, and a very friendly cat named Grouch (who both live downstairs), we would kindly request that your pets stay at your home. If you have a service animal, please email us before making your booking so that we can talk about logistics in making your stay possible. There is a cat and dog boarding facility 2km from the chateau run by a very nice local gal with a nice big yard. We are happy to provide information if needed.
What is the accessibility like?
The chateau was built in 1865 and has not been updated with accessible access. There are 10 steps to reach the front door and the guest rooms are on the 1st and 2nd floor. Being able to navigate stairs will ensure your comfort while you stay with us. We are happy to carry your luggage up for you if that’s helpful! Our goal is to refurbish our beautiful barn in future years with an accessible apartment so that we can welcome guests with accessibility needs. Until then we are not an accessible property.
